This is not something I want to do at ALL, but...I'm asking y'all for help.
Here's the situation: I nailed my interview at the very popular chain place that I mentioned yesterday, and they hired me on the spot for a fulltime position. YAY! The benefits do not suck at all (they're actually pretty freaking amazing), and this looks like it will be a really good opportunity. I got a tour of the place today, and have to say I am VERY impressed with their kitchens (yes, plural), their expediting system (it's computerized AND they have human expos working the line), their technology (OMG SO COOL), and their food. I have orientation tomorrow and training Monday through Friday of next week. I currently have $27 to my name (although all of the bills are up to date), and need to come up with a new shirt, belt, and pair of pants for MONDAY (I also have to come up with new shoes, but they have a catalog to choose from and can take the cost out of my first paycheck, and if I order through them they're okay with me wearing my current shoes until the new ones arrive). I'm absolutely hitting Goodwill, but the uniform is mostly white so I'm worried that stains will be an issue, plus I have to put gas in the MFA Minivan Tuesday or Wednesday to get to and from work, plus Hotter is going to have to take a cab to his Transplant appointment on Thursday (I can pick him up after training, but will already be in class when he needs a ride there). I have one evening shift at The Ritzier on Sunday, but will have to blow them off tomorrow for orientation (I'll probably call in "sick") and won't be able to work next week since they have me on day shifts. I already told The Ritzier about the new job and the training schedule, and they are...not happy for me. I'm not fired, but they're pissed (which hey, I'm pissed at them too). I asked about potentially rescheduling the training class, but that's not possible; it's a once-per-quarter thing and while I can defer my employment until the next training class, I can't pay the bills with what I'm making at The Ritzier and really need to get started at the new place.
So I somehow have to come up with the uniform (~$50), cab fare for Hotter on Thursday (also ~$50), a tank of gas (~$60), and some groceries ( at least $50) to last until the fifteenth when I'll (hopefully...) get a child support check. I'm told I can expect to start working the floor and making cash tips Tuesday or Wednesday of the week after next, so after that we'll be able to squeak by (barring disaster), and nobody is close to running out of any expensive prescription drugs (thank goodness) so if I can come up with about $250 all will be roses.
Would any of you be willing and able to make me a short-term loan of any part of the above (to be paid back by the end of the month)? I hate to ask, but I don't have any other ideas and I have to make this work. If you can help, please use the "donate" button to the right and put "loan" in the "purpose" field. I'll keep an eye on PayPal and let y'all know if/when I hit the goal amount. Thanks :)
ETA: I just went in and did paperwork at the new job, and unfortunately payroll deduction for shoes is do-able for everyone BUT servers (in New Job's defense, server minimum wage is $2.13/hr and most of servers' checks go to taxes). So I have to come up with an additional $46 by Tuesday-ish when the shoes arrive. EFF. WORD. The good news is, I'm almost at the halfway point thanks to some generous blog-land micro-lenders, and it's starting to look like this MIGHT all work out...somehow.
