I have some kind of Virus Of Filth that is causing the worst damn body aches I've had since having "post-staph rheumatoid phenomenon" in the wake of MRSAgate Aught-Six. Also a fever, a pounding headache, and upper-respiratory disgustingness. I'm about as pleased with this as you might imagine, especially given that The Ritz has a three-hour call-out policy (if you call out less than three hours before the start of your shift, it's an unexcused absence unless an immediate family member has died or you've been taken to the hospital via ambulance/had an accident on the way to work) and this COULD just be a twenty-four hour bug. I don't want to call out unnecessarily, because I can't afford to miss work if there's any other option, but given that my shift starts before dawn this puts me in the position of having to set an alarm for 3 a.m. and make a decision THEN. Feh on that!
On the bright side, I just got a payment notification from the good people over at Lijit. If you don't care about the nuts and bolts of blog-advertising then skip this whole paragraph, but many bloggers shy away from talking about the money they earn from their blogs and I always wonder about that kind of thing myself, so I'm about to break my blog-advertising experience with Lijit down for the curious. They don't pay publishers until you reach a $25 minimum threshold, and given that I am a very small-potatoes publisher, that's taken me (counts on fingers, checks archives)...fifteen months? Yes. But hey, $26.07 is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! And really, out of all the advertisers I've worked with, Lijit's customer service team remains the most responsive, and their terms the least restrictive. They haven't refused to let me create new ad zones due to my modest readership or assaulted my sensibilities with unauthorized noise-making ads a la Adbrite, or suspended me for talking about chickens a la Google. So two thumbs up to Lijit!
