I have been kind of quiet lately, mostly because work is stressing me out and I a) feel like an ass for complaining about that, because I am making REALLY good money (at least by MFA Standards) and b) do not want to go into potentially identifying detail. Because for all that work is immensely stressful lately, that is the fault of an individual, not the company, and I still very much like and believe in The Ritz as a company.
That said, here is an actual quote from a meeting I had with my manager yesterday, uttered by me through bewildered tears: "Until working with The Bastard here I didn't even know anti-Semitism was a THING anymore, I mean, who DOES that?!?"
But hey, I can still bitch about OTHER things, like how yesterday I woke up with a sore left knee! It felt like I'd just slept funny or something, and once I got moving at work it didn't bother me. Last night after I laid down I noticed that it was pretty sore when I got up to go to the bathroom, and this morning it hurt pretty badly. Eleven hours of work later? It's twice the size it should be and hurts like a motherfucker. I'm not taking it to a doctor because y'all know my policy on pain without trauma, I already have pain pills available due to my back, and unless it gets so bad that it can't work I am not interested in imaging to tell exactly what's wrong with it because I'm just going to RICE it and hope for the best regardless.
What else. OH! Hotter and I are going on a field trip on Tuesday! We're going to drive over a mountain and through some woods to meet a litter of Sphynx kittens and their mama, FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES. Hotter continues to mourn the lack of a cat in our life, and I continue to be violently allergic to same, although I'm not sure if it's the dander, the saliva, or the fur that I react to. I think it's the fur, because rabbits and really anything fluffy, even mice, also set me off. At any rate, we're going to go and see some hairless kitties, and I'm going to pet them and sniff them and see what happens. If I don't react, an extremely funny-looking kitten might be in our future (actually I think hairless cats' bat-ears are adorable).
Other than that, not much is going on here except that I tried my hand at waxing again and succesfully did my armpits and lower legs without any bruising, so I feel like a total badass. AND the gal who waxes Ms. Virginia left a big ol' bruise on me the last time, so I think the bruising may be more due to "MFA Mama is a bleeder whose platelets were low as hell on her recent labs" than skill of the waxer (or lack thereof). I'm still trying to work up the nerve to do try a DIY Brazilian.
How are all of YOU?
