Well, y'all, it looks like the MFA Minivan couldn't resist going out with a bang. Because not only did I sink every cent we had into her yesterday, only to be left stranded downtown yesterday in rush-hour traffic, but it also looks like she's shuffling off this mortal coil with our nest-egg under her hood. I just spoke to MFA Mechanic, and he's found that one of the cylinders in the engine is not getting any compression. He's going to tear down that cylinder on Monday and see if maybe there's something fixably wrong, but all in all it looks like this is It, and even if it's something fixable Monday we don't have a way of paying for any more car repairs before the end of the month.
I have a ride to work tonight, so I'm going to go ahead and go, but I am not on a bus line or anything, or even within five miles of one. Without reliable transportation I'll lose my job, and without my job, I'll lose our health insurance and income, and my last paycheck isn't going to be enough to buy even a shitty vehicle, so I don't know how I'm supposed to find another job to save up for one. It's not like I'd even get unemployment if I lost my job for not being able to show up. Shit, shit, shit. And no, if you're new to this blog, I do not have any credit (thank you, student loans and ex-husband).
I hate(d) that fucking van.

Fuckity fuck.
