The insurance check for the tornado damage to the MFA Minivan came. Aside from the new tires (which I got immediately, as I couldn't really go anywhere without them--those tires ate up my entire $500 deductible and our entire "cushion," which is why the oral surgery a couple of days later was such a big hairy deal), all of the damage is cosmetic, and considering that she's fourteen and has nearly 200,000 miles on her, the MFA Minivan can stay ugly.
So what that really means is that for the first time in AGES nothing is in danger of being shut off for nonpayment, I went to the Big Box Store after work and stocked us up on groceries (a real treat after weeks of eating the garden and pantry), the gas tank is full, I bought a box of home hair color and touched up my roots, and LIFE IS GOOD.
It's not even just the material things. My jaw is still a little achy, but for the first time in weeks I am not in any pain distraction won't solve, nobody (even the dog!) is acutely ill, I'm not worried about having enough hours at work (and our most pressing staffing issue has been solved as of yesterday, so I'm not worried about the future of my workplace)...I'm feeling...content. Optimistic. Relaxed, even. I DON'T DO RELAXED, PEOPLE! And yet, here we are.
How are all of YOU?

Dude.
SHHHHH!!!!
Don't jinx it. I'm going to go find a big tree to knock on for you.
(but I'm so happy for you!)

Meh, I kinda wanted to record the good feeling for posterity, because I'm well-aware that it's unlikely to last :) Still, though!
