Okay, so the big fantastic thing I wasn't telling you about, because I wanted to make sure it was for real?
A company called Brighter.com apparently pitched my friend Morgan for an advertising deal on her blog, and Morgan (who has a background in PR and has apparently been brainstorming ways of getting me a new tooth) turned around and pitched them right back all "so I see you provide dental discount plans...would you like to work together or maybe help me do a tooth-related fundraiser for my friend who is a very sad panda about her busted grille that she can't afford to fix?" (I'm paraphrasing, obviously). And they were like, NOPE! We'll just pay the whole thing.
Yeah. You read that right:
I...don't even know what to say about this (except for the eleventy-hundred e-mails, facespace chats, and Twitter direct messages I have sent Morgan over the course of the past week that all said "OMG OMG OMG"). As y'all know, it costs a LOT of money to fix a dental disaster of the magnitude of That Tooth. And they just...heard I needed help and stepped in in a big way. WOW.
I didn't want to say anything until I knew that this was for real (in fact, I didn't even mention it to Hotter until the Brighter.com folks e-mailed me directly), but this morning someone from Brighter.com called my dentist's office to arrange payment of my portion of the bill in advance and I guess this is really happening! They didn't ask me to dedicate a certain number of posts/tweets/whatnot to promoting their company or anything, but if you want to do me a favor you could share this post; I'd love it if they saw a bunch of hits come into their website from mine as a sort of virtual thank-you note.
Happy Tuesday, y'all. It's gray and rainy and gross here, but I'm smiling, busted-but-soon-to-be-fixed tooth and all :)
